About Sylvie
Sylvie is an experienced psychosexual and relationship therapist and an EFS & ESSM certified psycho-sexologist (ECPS). She provides a safe, comfortable and confidential space for therapy.
Sylvie recognises that seeing a therapist is a difficult decision to make. When we talk about our most intimate, private relationships, it can feel like navigating around an insurmountable obstacle. It is normal to hesitate, to feel anxious. During our 50-minute weekly sessions, we can explore the issues that have caused you to consider therapy: it might be a breakdown of communication with a partner, frequent arguments, or conflicting goals. There may also be fertility problems, parenting difficulties, depression or anxiety. Our conversations might also address broader relationship or individual issues: processing change and loss, recovering after an affair, or deciding whether to separate or to try to stay together.
Many people experience physical issues relating to sex: loss of desire, erectile dysfunction, difficulty with orgasm, painful sex, etc. If you have sexual difficulties, Sylvie aims to help you rekindle your desire by focusing on paths to pleasurable, positive and playful sex.
Sylvie will encourage you to explore your feelings and emotions and discuss ways of making sense of them to understand them better. This process may help you overcome dysfunctional relationship patterns, self-sabotaging behaviour and unhelpful beliefs. With time this will lead to a more conscious, more positive way of seeing yourself and your relationships. Sylvie’s warm, supportive and strictly non-judgmental approach will help you on this challenging journey.
Sylvie holds a Diploma in Psychosexual Therapy and an MA in Couple and Individual Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, both awarded by Tavistock Relationships. She has also completed the equivalent of a BSc in Clinical Psychology (Licence de Psychologie) from the University of Paris VIII.
Sylvie works in private practice (online only), and until July 2022, she worked at Tavistock Relationships as a visiting clinician. Between 2019 and 2021, she worked in the NHS as an Honorary Psychosexual Therapist at the Sexual Problems Clinic of St Pancras Hospital.
Bilingual in French and English, Sylvie grew up in France, where she studied at Sciences Po Lyon and in Lille at the École Supérieure de Journalisme. After a career in broadcasting in Paris, she continued her television career in the United States before retraining in 2015 in the UK to become a sex therapist. She is married and a mother of two children with two older stepchildren.
Sylvie is an accredited member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (AccCOSRT) and a UKCP full Clinical Psychotherapist (College for Sexual and Relationship Psychotherapy CSRP). In France, she is part of the Syndicat National des Sexologues. Cliniciens and the Association Inter disciplinaire et post Universitaire de Sexologie (AIUS).
